Los Angeles Lakers at Boston Celtics

Los Angeles Lakers Preview

The Los Angeles Lakers shoot for their 11th victory in the past 12 games when they visit the Boston Celtics on Monday. The Lakers had a nine-game winning streak halted by the Orlando Magic last Wednesday and bounced back with an impressive 124-115 road win over the Houston Rockets on Saturday. Forward LeBron James recorded 31 points and 12 assists in the Houston contest and has 31 assists over the past two games.

Los Angeles continues to thrive despite big man Anthony Davis (bruised backside) missing five straight games and he is listed as questionable to play against Boston. Veteran point guard Rajon Rondo also is questionable after missing three games with a fractured right ring finger.

Boston Celtics Preview

Marcus Smart aims to follow up the top shooting performance of his career when the Boston Celtics host the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night. The point guard established career bests of 37 points and 11 3-pointers — the latter a franchise record — but Boston lost 123-119 to the Phoenix Suns on Saturday for its third straight loss and sixth in eight games.

The Celtics are dealing with injuries as shooting guard Jaylen Brown (thumb) could miss his third straight game, while guard Kemba Walker (knee) hopes to return after a one-game absence. Power forward Jayson Tatum scored 26 points versus the Suns and is averaging 26.3 over his past four appearances. Boston has won five of the past seven meetings with the Lakers.
