La Salle Explorers Preview

The 10th-seeded La Salle Explorers have won four of their past six games heading into an Atlantic 10 tournament second-round game against Davidson on Thursday. Junior guard David Beatty, La Salle’s leading scorer at only 10.7 points per game, had a season-high 20 points in a loss to Massachusetts on March 4.

Seven Explorers are averaging between 6.1 points and 10.7 points per game. La Salle ranks second in the A-10 in 3-point percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 30 percent. In the only meeting during the regular season, Davidson overpowered visiting La Salle 74-49 on Feb. 25 despite the Explorers holding the Wildcats to 6-of-19 shooting from beyond the arc. La Salle hit just 2 of 16 from long range.

Davidson Wildcats Preview

The seventh-seeded Davidson Wildcats open Atlantic 10 tournament action with a second-round matchup against La Salle. The Wildcats finished 10-8 in the A-10 season, easily winning the only regular-season matchup with the Explorers 74-49 at home on Feb. 25.

In league games, senior guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson ranked among A-10 leaders in scoring (16.3 points per game), rebounding (8.1), defensive rebounds (7.3), assists (5.1), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2) and minutes played (37.8). Fellow senior guard Kellan Grady has scored 20 or more points in five of his last six games. Over his last 10 games, Grady is averaging 20.6 points while shooting 51.7 percent from the floor, including 25 of 51 from 3-point range.
