New York Knicks at Philadelphia 76ers
New York Knicks Preview
Losers of five consecutive games, the New York Knicks will aim to snap their skid Thursday in what has been the toughest NBA venue for road teams this season: Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. The 76ers are 27-2 at home and, like the Knicks, are coming off a road loss Wednesday.
The Knicks fell to the Charlotte Hornets 107-101 despite a team-high 18 points from Julius Randle. Reserve shooting guard Allonzo Trier provided a spark with 15 points after relieving a struggling RJ Barrett down the stretch, as Barrett had five points on 2-for-11 shooting. The Knicks have lost three times to the 76ers this season, falling by a combined 14 points.
Philadelphia 76ers Preview
The Philadelphia 76ers will look to build on their NBA-best 27-2 home record when they host the struggling New York Knicks on Thursday night, but they may have to do so without a pair of All-Stars. Center Joel Embiid left Philadelphia’s 108-94 loss at Cleveland on Wednesday with a sprained left shoulder he sustained in the first quarter, and the 7-footer is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam Thursday, leaving his status in doubt.
The 76ers also are minus point guard Ben Simmons, who has missed two straight games due to a nerve impingement in his lower back. Reserve center Kyle O’Quinn matched a season high with four blocks against the Cavaliers.
