Kansas Jayhawks at Oklahoma State Cowboys
Kansas Jayhawks Preview
The Kansas Jayhawks, after an emotional week in the aftermath of a brawl at the end of a win over rival Kansas State, managed to slog through a 74-68 home victory over Tennessee on Saturday. Now, they must turn around quickly to go on the Big 12 road as starting forward David McCormack serves the last game of his two-game suspension, while reserve forward Silvio De Sousa is out for 11 more games as punishment for his involvement in the brawl.
KU used only seven players vs. Tennessee, getting big contributions from its stars — big man Udoka Azubuike (18 points, 11 rebounds) and guard Devon Dotson (22 points, seven assists).
Oklahoma State Cowboys Preview
The Oklahoma State Cowboys are looking for their first win in conference play, starting 0-6 before posting a nonconference 73-62 victory at Texas A&M in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Saturday. Five players reached double-digit points in that win while Oklahoma State’s offense showed signs of life by shooting 55.1 percent and dishing 22 assists.
It was also encouraging to see 6-foot-10 Yor Anei have 11 points, nine rebounds and four blocks ahead of a matchup against Kansas’ Udoka Azubuike. Guard Lindy Waters III leads the team with 12.0 points per game, although the Cowboys are averaging just 57.5 points in conference play.
