Penn State Nittany Lions Preview

The sixth-seeded Penn State Nittany Lions open Big Ten tournament play on Thursday against Indiana looking to snap a three-game losing skid. The Nittany Lions dropped five of their final six games in the regular season after peaking at No. 9 in the AP Top 25 Poll. Their Feb. 23 loss at Indiana was the second game of that downturn.

The typically stout Penn State defense, which has held opposing offenses to 45.2 percent shooting inside the 3-point arc, surrendered 77, 79 and 80 points in the final three regular-season games. The Nittany Lions welcomed back 13.3-points-per-game scorer Myreon Jones on Feb. 29 after a six-game absence caused by an illness, but he has averaged just 7.3 points in three games since returning.
