Miami Heat at Los Angeles Clippers
Miami Heat Preview
The Miami Heat look to ride the momentum of their best offensive performance of the season when they open a six-game road trip against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. Jimmy Butler erupted for a season-high 38 points on 14-of-20 shooting from the floor against his former team on Monday in Miami’s 137-106 victory over Philadelphia. The Heat recorded campaign bests in total points and victory margin while their 81 points in the second half set a franchise record.
Butler led Miami with 20 points in its 122-117 setback to the Clippers on Jan. 24, a game that marked the Heat’s second home loss of the season. While the Heat have excelled in Miami (22-3), they are just 12-12 on the road.
Los Angeles Clippers Preview
The Los Angeles Clippers vie for their ninth win in 11 contests on Wednesday when they conclude a four-game homestand with a game against the Miami Heat. Kawhi Leonard scored 22 points on Monday as the Clippers overcame a 15-point, first-half deficit to post a 108-105 victory over San Antonio. The two-time NBA Finals MVP will face the Heat for the first time since recording his first career triple-double against them in a 122-117 victory on Jan. 24.
Leonard scored 26 of his 33 points in the second half to go along with 10 rebounds and 10 assists at Miami. Paul George missed that game with an ailing left hamstring, and he will enter the Wednesday contest with an injured nose as a result of an elbow from San Antonio’s DeMar DeRozan.
