Harvard Crimson Preview
The Harvard Crimson, who visit Yale on Friday, had an eight-game winning streak before dropping their past two contests. Both defeats last week were tight: 75-72 in overtime at Penn and 70-69 defeat at Princeton. Harvard received solid contributions from seniors Chris Lewis, Christian Juzang and Justin Bassey during the Penn-Princeton trip.
Lewis averaged 14 points, six rebounds, three blocked shots and 1.5 steals while Juzang contributed 11 points, six rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Bassey averaged 9.5 points, a team-best 8.5 rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals. Sophomore guard Noah Kirkwood led Harvard in scoring during last week by averaging 16 points on 50 percent shooting from the field (12 of 24).
Yale Bulldogs Preview
The Yale Bulldogs are riding a six-game winning streak into their Friday matchup with visiting Harvard. Azar Swain scored a career-high-tying 25 points and Paul Atkinson added 24 points and 11 rebounds last Saturday in Yale’s 86-71 victory over visiting Cornell. Swain, who leads the Ivy League in 58 3-pointers, was 6 of 8 from 3-point range.
The junior guard from Massachusetts was named the Ivy League Player of the Week for averaging 20.5 points and sinking 10 combined treys in Yale’s wins over Columbia and Cornell last week. Yale improved to 7-0 at Lee Amphitheater this season and has won 15 of its past 16 games overall.
