Calgary Flames Preview

The Calgary Flames bid for their third straight victory overall and a split of their four-game season series against the host Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday when the Pacific Division rivals meet at Staples Center. The Flames opened their four-game road trip with back-to-back 6-2 wins, with Matthew Tkachuk highlighting Monday’s victory versus San Jose with a between-the-legs goal in the third period.

Tkachuk has scored in consecutive contests to give him seven (four goals, three assists) of his club high-tying 45 points in the last seven games. Elias Lindholm, who leads the team with 22 goals, carries a seven-game point streak (two goals, five assists) into Wednesday’s contest.

Los Angeles Kings Preview

The Los Angeles Kings aim to snap a season high-tying five-game losing streak on Wednesday when they open a two-game homestand against the Calgary Flames. The Kings, who also dropped five in a row (0-4-1) from Jan. 11-29, have sustained consecutive three-goal setbacks and have been outscored 19-7 during their current winless skid.

Los Angeles received its lone offense on Sunday when recent acquisition Trevor Moore scored midway into the third period of a 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers. Defenseman Drew Doughty has recorded five points (two goals, three assists) in the first three meetings against Calgary, including a three-point performance on Oct. 8 that he capped by scoring 50 seconds into overtime of a 4-3 win.
