Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Atlanta Falcons Preview
The Atlanta Falcons look to conclude a disappointing season with a fourth
consecutive victory when they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Atlanta
has won five of its last seven games following a 1-7 start that has coach Dan Quinn’s
job in jeopardy. Quarterback Matt Ryan has topped 4,000 passing yards for the ninth
straight season while throwing 25 touchdown passes against 14 interceptions.
Star wideout Julio Jones (125 games) became the fastest player to reach 12,000
receiving yards in last week’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, surpassing Hall of
Famer Jerry Rice (142 games). Linebacker Vic Beasley needs two sacks to reach
double digits for the second time in his career.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preview
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers strive to finish the campaign with five wins in their final
six games when they host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Tampa Bay had its four-
game winning streak halted by the Houston Texans last week as quarterback Jameis
Winston was intercepted four times.
The miscues have been a season-long issue for Winston, who is two interceptions
shy of being the first quarterback to throw 30 in a season since Vinny Testaverde
tossed 35 for the Buccaneers in 1988. Winston also leads the NFL with 4,908 passing
yards. Linebacker Shaquil Barrett has enjoyed an exceptional season and ranks
second in the NFL with 16.5 sacks and third with six forced fumbles.
