The New Jersey Devils bid to record a third straight victory for the first time this season on Thursday when they visit the New York Islanders in Uniondale, N.Y. Defenseman Damon Severson scored in the sixth round of the shootout on Tuesday as the Devils extended their point streak to four games (3-0-1) with a 3-2 win against the Boston Bruins.
Promising goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood, who overcame an early goal and finished with 28 saves versus the Bruins, carries an 8-4-0 mark road mark this season into Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. In his lone career appearance against the Islanders, the 23-year-old surrendered three goals in the first period in a 4-1 road loss to the Islanders on Jan. 17, 2019.

The New York Islanders answered their second three-game winless stretch of the season by concluding a three-game road trip with back-to-back victories. The Islanders aim to continue their ascent on Thursday against the New Jersey Devils in Uniondale, N.Y. Fourth-liner Casey Cizikas recorded his first multi-goal performance of the season on Tuesday as visiting New York moved within six points of Metropolitan Division-leading Washington with a 4-3 win over the Capitals.
Brock Nelson, who scored his 14th goal of the season on Tuesday, was selected by the NHL to be part of the vote for the Last Men In for the 2020 All-Star Game. The 28-year-old collected four points (one goal, three assists) in New York’s four-game season sweep of New Jersey in 2018-19.
