DC Defenders at Los Angeles Wildcats

DC Defenders Preview

The DC Defenders are on a roll, and they’ll look to move to 3-0 when they visit the winless Los Angeles Wildcats on Sunday. Defenders quarterback Cardale Jones, the former Ohio State star and NFL fourth-round pick, leads the XFL with 511 passing yards, and two of his receivers rank in the top five in receiving yards: former NFL journeyman Rashad Ross (147, second) and former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Eli Rogers (122, fifth).

DC stomped the New York Guardians 27-0 last week, with Ross catching four passes for 95 yards and Jones tossing a pair of touchdowns. The defense allowed just 137 total yards and forced three turnovers.

Los Angeles Wildcats Preview

The Los Angeles Wildcats seek their first victory after falling 25-18 to Dallas last week, following a wild fourth quarter. The Renegades led just 6-3 entering the fourth, before the sides combined for five scores in the final 11:57.

The Wildcats managed the XFL’s first 3-point conversion to cut the deficit to 19-18 but couldn’t stop the run, allowing 154 rushing yards and a late 17-yard touchdown. Josh Johnson was up and down in his debut for Los Angeles, going 18 of 34 for just 196 yards but also two touchdowns. Both scores went to Nelson Spruce, who leads the league in both receptions (17) and receiving yards (192).
