Chelsea Odds Against Burnley
Chelsea have been the epitome of inconsistency over the last two months with five defeats, three wins and one tie in their last nine fixtures. After their humiliating 2-0 home defeat to the lowly Southampton, they bounced back with a less than impressive but ruthless victory over rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea scored two goals in the space of four minute late in the game to snatch the three points that Arsenal had deserved for most of the match before a blunder by Bernd Leno and their inability to stop Chelsea counter-attacking saw them lose once again.
They followed that up with a 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion where Iranian Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored a wonder-goal in the 84th minute goal to claim a point from a game they were behind for 74 minutes due to Cesar Azpilicueta’s opener in the 10th minute of the game.
Burnley also failed to win their last league game, falling 2-1 at home to Aston Villa despite an 80th minute consolation goal from Chris Wood.
Both teams however won their FA Cup third round games with Ross Barkley and Callum Hudson-Odoi netting in a 2-0 win over Championship side Nottingham Forest.
Burnley won a thrilling encounter with Peterborough United 4-2 with Jay Rodriguez bagging a brace alongside goals from Erik Pieters and Jeff Hendrick. Burnley sit 15th in the table with seven wins, three ties and 11 losses for the season so far.
Why Figuring Out Chelsea Odds is a Tricky Proposition
It’s a tricky encounter for both sides with Burnley who’ve lost three games on the trot to Everton, Manchester United and Aston Villa must be desperate for any kind of result and will most certainly play for a draw at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea, on the other hand will be wanting to get back to winning ways with an opportunity to increase their lead in fourth over the likes of Manchester United, Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur; the latter play Liverpool on the weekend.
Burnley’s record against Chelsea doesn’t spell for good reading with one win in their last 11 Premier League meetings against Chelsea. In fact, they only have one Premier League against Chelsea in their history.
In their last six fixtures, Chelsea have won three, tied twice and lost once.
Despite both teams not being at their best, there’s one team who are overwhelming favourites (I think you might know who).
Sportsbooks odds on a home Chelsea win opens at -400, making them clear favourites. Odds on an away Burnley win open at +100. Odds on a tie between the two clubs open at +475.
Can Pulisic Explode Against Burnley Once Again?
It was the 4-0 away win at Burnley that the Premier League were introduced to Christian Pulisic. He scored his first career hattrick and became the youngest American to score a Premier League hattrick.
Since then, he’s scored just once while suffering with injuries. He’s been in and out of the team but has recently returned and is in need of a big game to resurrect his Chelsea career in 2020.
