Burnley v Liverpool Odds Preview

Liverpool Odds Against Burnley As They Hope to Stay 100%

Liverpool has had an impressive start to the 2019/20 Premier League season with three wins out of three. Coming off a 3-1 victory last week against an improved Arsenal side, Liverpool will look to make it four wins out of four.

Liverpool has the opportunity to break a club record this weekend. A win against Burnley will make it 13 consecutive league wins for the Reds, between Kenny Dalglish’s record of 12 wins in a row set in October 1990. This is another chance for Jurgen Klopp to place his name in the Liverpool record books.

That being said, Burnley is no joke. Whether they win or lose, they put in a rugged and resilient display every week, therefore Liverpool will not have it easy in their quest to 13 wins in a row.

Sportsbooks have Liverpool winning the match at an overwhelming -300. Liverpool remains as the only team in the Premier League with a 100% record and the form of their front three; Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane make it hard for anybody to change that.

After a tough 2018/19 Premier League campaign for Burnley where they flirted with relegation and ended up finishing just six points above 18th place, they’ve made a mixed start to the 2019/20 Premier League Season.

A comprehensive opening-day 3-0 victory over Southampton was followed by a tight 2-1 loss to Arsenal. Burnley was crucially denied three points last week where Wolves striker Raul Jimenez scored a 97th-minute penalty to tie the game at 1-1. Facing off against one of the world’s best in Liverpool means that sportsbooks have an unlikely Burnley victory opening at +750.

Despite the improbable odds, Burnley has been a competitive opponent for Liverpool in most of their matches. Despite only one win against Liverpool in 10 Premier League matchups, Liverpool has conceded eight goals in their last six matches against Burnley which included Burnley’s sole win against Liverpool which was a 2-0 victory at Turf Moor in August of 2016. ,

Liverpool Odds As They Continue Their Unbeaten Run in the Premier League

Liverpool is unbeaten in their last 20 Premier League games, boasting a record of 16 wins and four losses. They’ve only lost one game in their last 42 Premier League matches, with the sole loss coming against the Premier League Champions Manchester City in January 2019. Liverpool is smack dab in the middle of their greatest era this decade and with a real chance to win the elusive Premier League title. Their lack of losses and ability to come back from behind is a hallmark of a champion.

They demonstrated that when they came back from behind against Burnley last year at Anfield only to come back and win the match 4-2.

Liverpool has an elite and stout defense; however, they will have to remain cautious of Burnley striker Ashley Barnes, who’s scored four goals already this season, *more than Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Man so far.

Liverpool isn’t the only one this weekend who has the opportunity to make records as Ashley Barnes could become the first Burnley player to find the net in five consecutive Premier League matches. Sportsbooks, therefore, has Barnes to score at +240, which is worth betting on, since Barnes netted against the Reds last year.

I believe Liverpool will come out victorious from this match, however, as always with Burnley it will be a tightly fought contest with not much in it.
