St. Louis Blues at Minnesota Wild

St. Louis Blues Preview

The St. Louis Blues bid for their fourth straight victory on Sunday night when they visit the Minnesota Wild in Saint Paul, Minn. The Blues answered an 0-3-2 stretch with a pair of shutouts and a 5-1 romp in Dallas on Friday to create a little breathing room atop the Central Division, though Colorado won Saturday to move back within one point.

Defenseman Colton Parayko collected one goal and two assists versus the Stars to boost his total to five of each in his last nine games. Reigning Selke and Conn Smythe Trophy recipient Ryan O’Reilly also has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in his last 10 contests. He set up a goal in St. Louis’ 2-1 victory over Minnesota on Oct. 30 and scored in overtime three nights later in a 4-3 victory versus the Wild.

Minnesota Wild Preview

The Minnesota Wild aim to ride the momentum of defenseman Jared Spurgeon’s natural hat trick into Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Blues in Saint Paul, Minn. Spurgeon, who is from Edmonton, scored the final three goals on Friday as the Wild improved to 6-2-1 in their last nine outings with a 5-3 victory over the host Oilers.

Ryan Suter, who is the only other Wild defenseman to record a hat trick for the franchise, set up two goals against Edmonton and has six of his club-best 34 assists in his last nine games. Mats Zuccarello scored goals in both Minnesota’s 2-1 setback at St. Louis on Oct. 30 and a 4-3 overtime loss three nights later.
