Colorado Avalanche at San Jose Sharks

Colorado Avalanche Preview

The Colorado Avalanche aim to rebound from seeing a pair of pronounced streaks come to a halt when they visit the San Jose Sharks on Sunday. The Avalanche dropped a 6-3 decision versus Vancouver on Friday to snap both their nine-game road winning streak and nine-game overall point streak (7-0-2).

Captain Gabriel Landeskog sports a seven-game point streak (four goals, six assists) after scoring and setting up a goal against the Canucks. Nathan MacKinnon, who leads the team in goals (34), assists (56) and points (90), has collected five points in his last three games. Both Landeskog and MacKinnon were held off the scoresheet in the first encounter between the teams on Jan. 16, although Colorado skated away with a 4-0 win.

San Jose Sharks Preview

The San Jose Sharks look to finish their six-game homestand on a positive note Sunday when they host the Colorado Avalanche. The Sharks answered a five-game skid by winning the first three contests of the homestand before dropping a 3-2 decision to Minnesota on Thursday and a 2-1 overtime loss to Ottawa two nights later.

Evander Kane scored his team-best 25th goal on Saturday to boost his point total to seven (four goals, three assists) in his last five games. Timo Meier and defenseman Brent Burns each notched an assist to remain tied for the club lead in points (45) for the Sharks, who will look to avenge a 4-0 setback to Colorado on Jan. 16.
