Liverpool Odds Against Leicester

Liverpool host an impressive Leicester City side that’s risen to 3rd in the Premier League after four wins in their last five games. Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has taken Leicester to another level this season, potentially vying for a top-four spot. Jamie Vardy has again demonstrated his ability as an elite striker in the Premier League, scoring five goals in seven league games.

Liverpool is in the midst of breaking yet another record, this time, a Premier League one. They’ve won 16 Premier League games in a row, dating back to last season and are two wins away from matching Manchester City’s record of 18 wins. They must beat Leicester this Saturday and Manchester United the following week, two tricky games for Liverpool to be record-breakers once again.

Liverpool has lost just once in their last seven Premier League games against Leicester and has won three of their last four matches. The corresponding fixture last season ended as a 1-1 tie courtesy of a Harry Maguire header for Leicester. Sportsbooks’ odds on a tie between Liverpool and Leicester open at +375.

Both teams enter the game in red-hot form, with Liverpool remaining as the only team in the league to both be unbeaten and possess a 100% record and Leicester who demolished Newcastle 5-0 in their last game. It’s another test for Liverpool’s title aspirations as to whether they can take care of a dark horse like Leicester.

Sportsbooks has odds on a Liverpool win opening at -250. Leicester’s odds of defeating Liverpool open at +650, according to sportsbooks. For those who think an upset is on the cards, the odds on a Leicester win open up possibilities for a considerable pay-out.

However, there is a reason that Leicester is massive underdogs. Liverpool last lost a Premier League home game back in April of 2017. They’ve managed to turn Anfield back into a feared outing for not only Premier League opponents, but European ones too, just ask Barcelona.

The Anfield Return of Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers was the manager of Liverpool from 2012-2015. While some hold him in high regard due to how close he was to delivering Liverpool its first Premier League title in the 2013/14 seasons, others choose to forget his reign at the helm of Liverpool due to spells of mediocrity and the absence of trophies.

Rodgers was a class act throughout his tenure at Liverpool and provided lifelong memories in Liverpool’s historic 2013/14 season despite it ending trophy less. He now finds himself at Leicester after a three-year successful spell at Celtic. He brought in great young talent in the summer such as Youri Tielemans, Ayoze Perez and Dennis Praet.

He will almost certainly return to Anfield with respect from the home fans and a desire to leave his former home with a win for his current club.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were both off their game in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United last week and that can only mean one thing: they will score against Leicester. Sportsbooks’ odds on Salah hitting his fifth of the season open at -137. Odds on Mane scoring against Leicester open at +105, according to sportsbooks.
