Patrice Bergeron provided the honors on Wednesday in Boston’s seventh straight victory over Carolina, scoring early in the second overtime of a 4-3 win in the series opener. The four-time Selke Trophy recipient’s fourth career playoff overtime goal established a franchise record, passing Mel Hill (3) and Terry O’Reilly (3).
Linemates David Pastrnak (one goal, one assist) and Brad Marchand (two assists) posted their first points of the postseason on Wednesday. Both players also set up a goal in the third period of the lone regular-season meeting between the teams, a 2-0 win by the Bruins on Dec. 3.
