Carolina Hurricanes Odds
The Carolina Hurricanes look to carry the momentum from a dominant showing in their qualifying series into Game 1 of their Stanley Cup playoff first-round matchup against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.
The Hurricanes last played Aug. 4, when they completed a three-game sweep of the New York Rangers to earn the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. Forward Sebastian Aho (three goals, five assists) excelled in the series, and goalies Petr Mrazek and James Reimer each earned victories.
Carolina was swept by Boston in the conference finals during last season’s playoffs and has lost 10 of its past 11 against the Bruins overall.
Boston Bruins Odds
The Boston Bruins look to prove their lackluster round-robin showing irrelevant as they face the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 1 of their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series Tuesday night.
The Bruins, who held the best record in the NHL at the pause of the season, lost all three of their round-robin games to drop to the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Boston never led in any of the defeats, and its star-studded top line of Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand combined for only one assist. The Bruins blanked the Hurricanes 1-0 in teams’ only meeting this season, with Jaroslav Halak making 24 saves on Dec. 3.
