The NFL Week 1 Best Bet is Bills (+3) at Jets
BUFFALO BILLS @ NEW YORK JETS
If you have ever heard my podcast, Against All Odds with Cousin Sal, you would know I’m no fan of Jets QB Sam Darnold. I feel he is a turnover machine and refuses to go across the middle which hurts the Jets offensive attack. The Bills had one of the best defenses in football a season ago. In their two matchups versus New York, the Bills yielded only 466 total yards. I’m looking for the Bills secondary to pick Darnold apart.
Jordan Poyer led Buffalo in interceptions last year with four, and I can see him making a big time pick in this game. Buffalo QB Josh Allen made strides last year and has more offensive weapons to use this year such as wide receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley.
The NFL Week 1 Best Bet Comes Down to Defense
The Bills have owned the Jets of late winning nine of the last 13 games, with an average winning margin of 11 points in those games. Also, during that 13 game stretch, the Bills have scored at least 20 points a game in every game.
The Bills defense however will make the difference in this game. We will see more than just Poyer making plays for the Buffalo defense on Sunday. I’m looking for rookie defensive end Ed Oliver from Houston to plug the holes and stuff Le’Veon Bell’s attempts to run the ball.
