Harry Gagnon’s Underdog Bet of NFL Week 7, NCAAF Week 8
The Game:
Eagles at Cowboys
BONUS! UCLA at Stanford
The Play:
Eagles at +3
UCLA at +9.5
The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog and revenge is also on their minds. The Eagles have lost three straight games to Dallas by six, seven and six points. That last 6-point loss includes the game in Dallas last year where the Eagles recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff, but the Packers MVP (the refs) inexplicably botched that call and others during the game; you can be sure the Eagles have not forgotten that game and will be fired up for this one.
The Eagles are in the middle of three straight road games, so this is where quarterback Carson Wentz will take control of the game and the NFC East. Plus, there is no way I feel you can back a team that made Jets quarterback Sam Darnold look decent. The question you have to ask yourself; do the Eagles put up back-to-back stinkers, or do you want to back the team that (again!) made SAM DARNOLD LOOK LIKE AN MVP CANDIDATE?
Prediction:
EAGLES 28
COWBOYS 24
Chip Kelly and the UCLA Bruins are not a bettor’s best friend when it comes to conference play. They were a favorite in Tucson against the Arizona Wildcats—playing without their starting quarterback and most productive running back—and lost 20-17. They also hosted the Oregon State Beavers at home in Los Angeles on October 5th and got trounced 48-31. Meanwhile, they entered their game in Pullman against the Mike Leach led Cougars as an 18-point underdog… and won the craziest game of the year outright 67-63.
UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson has 14 total touchdowns and proved he can be a fantastic leader as he showed in that game in Washington State. Stanford is not that good offensively as they have struggled mightily passing the ball. The Cardinal leading receiver only has 300 yards and their quarterbacks only have eight passing touchdowns in six games. Stanford is only 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games. Take the Bruins getting the points.
Prediction:
STANFORD 23
UCLA 21
