College Football Best Bet of Week 3: ASU vs. MSU
The Game:
ARIZONA STATE SUNDEVILS VS MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS
The Play:
ASU +14
Taking two touchdowns here is the way to go in this nonconference clash. These two squads met last year in Tempe and it was a close, low scoring affair in which Sparky took down Sparty 16-13. Both teams come into this game 2-0 and Arizona State is starting a true freshmen at quarterback for the first time in the school’s history. And he hasn’t disappointed; Jayden Daniels has been fairly impressive going for 588 yards and three touchdowns.
ASU’s competition hasn’t been the greatest, but I think head coach Herm Edwards has been playing it fairly vanilla in anticipation of the battle in East Lansing.
WR for the Spartans, Darrell Stewart Jr., has flashed so far this year, going for 16 catches and 241 yards. However, he is the only one as no one else on the Michigan St. roster has eclipsed 80 yards receiving. If ASU can keep Stewart in check, they should be able to hang around in this game and definitely cover the number.
Here are some trends that lean in the Sundevils’ direction:
- ASU is 7-2 straight up and 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games versus the Big 10
- Michigan St is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games at home
- The Spartans are 2-10 ATS in its last 12 games against the Pac–12
PREDICTION :
ARIZONA ST 23
MICHIGAN ST 28
