College Football Best Bet of Week 2

LSU TIGERS @ TEXAS LONGHORNS
OVER 52.5 POINTS at -110 FOR THE GAME

This very well may be the game of the week in college football. The only other game involving ranked teams playing each other is Texas A&M going on the road to play the number one team in the land, Clemson. In this early season nonconference matchup in Austin, Texas I can see this being an up tempo type of game where both quarterbacks play outstanding.

Both teams have plenty of weapons on offense to sail past that total of 52.5. Here is my Top 10 list of why this game will go over

Over Under LSU Tigers at Texas Longhorns

1. Texas returns only three starters on defense
2. Longhorns were only 4th best defensively last year in Big 12 and gave up first downs on 45% of their opponents 3rd Down tries
3. Over the past two years, Texas is averaging 35 points per game in nonconference games, including upsetting Georgia last year in the Sugar Bowl.
4. Texas senior WR Colin Johnson returns. After leading the Longhorns with 985 yards and seven touchdowns last year.
5. Horns QB and Heisman hopeful Sammy Ehlinger had 3300 yards and 41 total TD’s last year and started the season well with four more last week vs La Tech
6. Both starting QB’s combined for 23 rushing touchdowns last year
7. LSU returns eight starters on defense
8. Tigers WR Justin Jefferson had 875 receiving yards a season ago; the most receiving yards by a LSU WR since Odell Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry.
9. LSU QB Joe Burrow continues to make great strides in leading this potent offense as he has 14 touchdowns and only one pick in his last four games.
10. It is a national TV game. Oh, and it will also be 103 degrees and huuuumid in Austin on Saturday. Therefore, look for the defenses to crumble late in the 3rd quarter as scoring chances will be available late in the game for both teams. National TV game and in the 103 degree temps and humidity in Austin on Saturday, look for the defenses to crumble late in the 3rd quarter and scoring chances will be available for both teams.

PREDICTION:
LSU 34
TEXAS 27
