Harry Gagnon’s Thursday Night Football Prop Bet for Week 8
The Game:
Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings
The Play:
1ST HALF – VIKINGS -7.5 -120
The Vikings have the Chiefs and Cowboys on the road the next two weeks, but they’ll be remiss if they overlook the struggling Redskins this week at home. I think they’ll dominate the Redskins, especially early. Minnesota is 3-0 at home and have won those games by a total of 54 points. The Vikings have the second-best point differential in the NFC and have scored 102 points more than the Redskins. In the Vikings previous three home games they have been winning at half in all three by double digits (21 vs ATL, 14 vs OAK, 14 vs PHIL).
The Vikings are third in rushing and sixth overall in total offense in the league. Minnesota QB Kirk Cousins has been red hot the last three weeks and it doesn’t hurt when you have receivers like Stefon Diggs & Adam Thielen (who have combined for 10 TDs although it looks like Thielen might miss the Thursday night affair with a hamstring injury). RB Dalvin Cook put the finishing touches in last week’s game versus Detroit when he scored his 8th rushing touchdown.
The Redskins are a different story: they are a mess at QB, combining for eight interceptions between Keenum, McCoy and Haskins. The Redskins have already been trounced on national television at home this year when the Chicago Bears dismantled them in Week 3. Washington is bad everywhere: they are 28th in total offense and have just two rushing touchdowns, and their defense is 27th against the run, which should open up the door for Dalvin Cook.
The Vikings are 6th in the league in total yards allowed and Washington better watch out for defensive end Danielle Hunter; he leads the team with seven sacks already. If all goes according to plan, this should be another snoozer while the Redskins continue to find a way to score points, something that is becoming easier and easier for the Vikings.
Prediction:
