Harry Gagnon’s Thursday Night Football Prop Bet for Week 6
The Game:
New York Giants at New England Patriots
The Play:
Giants at Patriots UNDER 42
It just seems incredibly hard to make a case to take an over in a game that involves the new England Patriots. In their five games so far this season, they have given up: three, zero, 14 (to the Jets in which both touchdowns were via a pick six and a fumbled punt in the endzone), 10 and followed up those double-digit outings allowing a measly seven points last week versus the Washington Redskins. The Patriots are led defensively by linebacker Jaime Collins Sr. Collins seems to be everywhere for New England as he leads the team with 27 tackles, three interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown.
Running Back Wayne Gallman can’t go for the New York Giants because of a concussion, so the Giants will be down to starting their third string undrafted back, Jon Hillman who is averaging just 2.8 yards a carry so far this season.
Numerous trends are leading to the under in this contest as well:
- The total has gone under in five of the Patriots last six games and in those matchups the average score has been only 34 points
- Patriots games have gone under in the last four games at home after they had been on the road for consecutive road games
- The under has hit in three of the last four times these two rivals have met
- One last stat that might convince you to take the under; 10 of the last 13 Patriot games played at night have also gone under.
