Course: TPC Boston
Tournament: The Northern Trust
When: August 20-23
This is where the best of the best hope to move on to the BMW Championship in Illinois and the Tour Championship in Georgia. The Northern Trust is an extremely difficult tournament to dissect considering it changes venue from year-to-year.
Despite switching courses, a few golfers who do nicely in this tournament are Patrick Reed (won last season), Bryson DeChambeau (won the year before), and Australian Adam Scott who has played in just eight events this season, but won at Riviera.
Scott has a couple top 5’s in this tournament and sometimes you just get a feel for a guy and Scott is that guy for me this weekend. I can really see him making a run for the top prize in the FedEx Cup race. Last week in Greensboro, my picks were dead on as I correctly spotted that Billy Horschel, Si Woo Kim, and Webb Simpson would be at the top of the leaderboard and I’ll try to keep the magic rolling this week in Boston.
Northern Trust To Make the Cut Parlay
-700 Bryson DeChambeau
Bryson has been almost unbeatable since the restart
-650 Jon Rahm
Rahm is ranked second in the world, what else do you want?
-425 Collin Morikawa
He was amazing two weeks ago at the PGA Championship, and has honestly been amazing all season long
-320 Adam Scott
I think it is time to see Scott make a run at the FedEx title
Northern Trust Matchups Prop Bets
-120 Daniel Berger over Brooks Koepka
Both golfers have been inconsistent this season, but it seems like if I have to choose one of these two golfers to get hot hot I’m banking on Berger.
Editor’s Note: Brooks Koepka withdrew from the Northern Trust August 19 due to injury per PGA Tour Officials.
-110 Billy Horschel over Rickie Fowler
Horschel finished second in last week’s tournament. Meanwhile, Fowler is in the midst of his worst season in 10 years. Not only that, but Horschel has made it to the Tour Championship in seven straight seasons. This is clearly a situation of two golfers trending in opposite directions.
-135 Matthew Wolff over Kevin Kisner
Wolff has been playing some great golf and has captured four top 25 finishes over the last six tournaments. Those finishes include a second-place finish in Detroit and a fourth at the PGA in San Francisco two weeks ago.
