What: Super Start Batteries 400 presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts
Where: Kansas Speedway
When: Thursday, July 23
After another wild week in NASCAR where we had the All-Star race in Bristol on Wednesday and a cup series race in Texas, we slow things down a bit with another mid-week race at Kansas Speedway on Thursday. Chase Elliott was the winner at the All-Star race in Tennessee and I expect him to stay hot as he has an excellent history at this track. Another guy who I think will race well is Martin Truex Jr. Truex leads the circuit in wins at intermediate tracks since 2017 with 10 (Harvick is second with eight).
As we look ahead to the NASCAR schedule not once but two times in August, we will have cup races from the same venue on both weekend days. Those two dates are August 8th and 9th in Michigan and August 22nd and 23rd in Delaware.
NASCAR Stats and Harry’s Drivers to Stay Away from in Kansas
Beware of Joey Logano and Aric Almirola
Almirola has been one of the “hotter” drivers of late but both he and Logano are a “no go” in Kansas. Since February of 2017, Logano and Almirola have combined for a total of nine laps led during that time. Also, Logano has one top 5 finish over that time span while Almirola has provided a ground total of nada.
NASCAR Drivers with 600+ Laps Led on the Season
1-721 Kevin Harvick
2-622 Ryan Blaney
3-611 Brad Keselowski
4-604 Chase Elliott
NASCAR Drivers with Mots Top 5 Finishes
1-11 Kevin Harvick
2-9 Denny Hamlin
3-8 Kyle Busch
4-7 Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott
Harry’s Best Super Start Batteries 400 Matchup Prop Bets
-130 Alex Bowman over Aric Almirola
Almirola’s best finish here is 9th, meanwhile Bowman has two top 10 finishes here over his last three runs.
-150 Eric Jones over Ryan Newman
Jones has three top 10 races in his last four starts in Kansas. In 28 career starts here, Newman’s average finishing position is 19th. On the other hand, Newman has two finishes in the 30s in his last five races at Kansas.
-130 Martin Truex Jr over Ryan Blaney
In Truex’s last six races at this track, he has two wins and four top 5 finishes. As mentioned earlier, Truex has the most wins at intermediate tracks since 2017.
-140 Eric Jones over Austin Dillon
Dillon ran a great race in his win in Texas last week but I’m rolling with Jones yet again. Simply put; Jones is way more consistent at this track than Dillon. Dillon has just three top 10 finishes in 13 career starts at Kansas.
Harry’s NASCAR Top 3 Finish Prop Bet at the Super Start Batteries 400
+120 Kevin Harvick
In 28 career runs here, Harvick has three wins and five poles. Harvick also leads the circuit in points and top 5 finishes. Since 2001 at this track, Harvick has the best average finishing position and has led the most laps during that time.
Top 3 Finish and to Win
+120 and +600 Chase Elliott
Elliott won in Tennessee last week and I consider him the overall favorite in Kansas. In his last three races here, Elliott has a second, fourth, and first place finish. In Chase’s last six races in Kansas, he has a win and four top four finishes. I wanted to take Truex here, but Elliott is the guy who has been more reliable.
I hope you enjoy yet another mid-week race from NASCAR on Thursday. As other sports start to comeback, I just want to say that I appreciate the UFC and NASCAR coming through for us as sports fans when we had nothing, and they were the trailblazers during this terrible pandemic. Thanks NASCAR!
