NASCAR Odds: Harry Breaks Down the Auto Club 400 Odds
The Race:
The Auto Club 400
Where:
The Auto Club Speedway
Fontana, California
Two races have been completed and now we hit the third race of the season in California. The race in Fontana is always interesting and Ford has produced in the last three races here, with nine Top 5s out of the possible 15 finishing spots but have yet to notch a win. While in the past four races Toyota and Chevy each have two wins. After Fontana, NASCAR swings south to Phoenix, but for now, here is the leaderboard after a pair of races.
NASCAR CUP SERIES POINTS LEADERS THROUGH TWO RACES
85 Points – Ryan Blaney 23 laps led
82 Points – Joey Logano 60 laps led, 1 win
81 Points – Kevin Harvick 92 laps led
70 Points – Kyle Larson 0 laps led
66 Points – Ricky Stenhouse, Jr 54 laps led
Harry’s Picks to Win the Auto Club 400
Kyle Busch
+500 To Win
+125 To Finish in Top 3
Busch loves this track and this race, as proven by the fact he is constantly one of the leaders here at Fontana. In fact, Busch is the defending champ where he also led 134 laps. Not only that, but Busch also won in back–to–back years in 2012 and ’13.
Kevin Harvick
+500 To Win
+125 To Finish in Top 3
Harvick already has a Top 5 and a Top 10 so far this season and all the way back in 2011 he won this race. In terms of the more recent history, he had back–to–back second place finishes in 2015-16 and had a 4th place finish last year.
Brad Keselowski
+700 To Win
+175 To Finish in Top 3
Keselowski has three straight Top 5 finishes here and was able to pull off a miracle in 2015, winning this race while leading for just one lap.
Martin Truex, Jr.
+800 To Win
+185 To Finish in Top 3
Truex won here in 2018 (when he led 125 laps) and is due for a big finish. Plenty of media had big plans for Truex this season (myself included) and this is a spot where he can work the other drivers and create plenty of opportunity for himself like he did two years ago. We are only two races in, but it is time Truex gets a solid finish.
Harry’s Top 5 Match Ups For the Auto Club 400
-115 Clint Bowyer over Aric Almirola
Bowyer was close to the lead at several different times during the Daytona 500 so he has already looked good recently, and in 2017 he netted a third place finish at Fontana.
-130 Ryan Blaney over Denny Hamlin
Blaney leads in points so far this season with 85 and recorded a Top 5 finish here last season.
-120 Kyle Larson over Chase Elliott
Elliott has been a bit disappointing so far in 2020, meanwhile Larson is fourth in points and won here in 2017 before finishing second in 2018.
-120 Kyle Busch over Joey Logano
This is Busch’s type of track and Logano may take it kind of easy this week after last week’s victory in Las Vegas.
-120 Jimmy Johnson over William Byron
Johnson was a winner here in 2016 and was able to record a Top 10 finish in Las Vegas a week ago.
