The Best Plays on the Golf Odds this Weekend: Whole Tournament Matchups
-105 Bud Cauley over Matthew Wolff
Cauley is coming off an impressive 4th place finish last week at La Quinta and now has two Top 10 finishes this season (9th at Houston Open). Cauley is 18th on tour in sand saves and is 25th in scoring average (70). At Torrey Pines last season he played well and finished tied for 13th. Wolff is going to be a great player on the PGA tour but as of now the nod goes to Cauley as Wolff is just 153rd in scoring average at 71.6
-120 Gary Woodland over Rickie Fowler
Woodland has played well at Torrey Pines finishing 9th last year, 12th in ’18, and 20th in ’17. He is ranked 15th in the world and is 4th on tour in driving accuracy. Woodland also has four straight Top 10’s. We see Rickie Fowler nonstop on these Farmer Insurance commercials but in this golf tournament, we don’t see him too often on the weekends. Fowler has missed the cut here five of the last seven tournaments and has finished 61st and 66th in the two he made.
The Best Plays on the Golf Odds this Weekend: Top 20 Finishes
+500 Sepp Straka
The Austrian native has been playing really well lately. He has two Top 10’s this season and finished tied for 4th in La Quinta last week. He is 50th in the Fed Ex Cup rankings and shot a final round 65 in Hawaii at the Sony
Open. Straka finished in the Top 20 in this event last year, finishing tied for 13th.
+425 Talor Gooch
Gooch finished tied for 17th last week at the American Express Championship and tied for 3rd last year at Torrey Pines (with all four rounds in the 60’s). Gooch is 60th on the Fed Ex leaderboard, has a Top 10 finish this season in Houston, and has made seven straight cuts.
+135 Jason Day
Day loves playing at Torrey Pines and why shouldn’t he since he finished tied for 3rd last year, he won it in’18 & ’15, and placed in 2014.
The Best Plays on the Golf Odds this Weekend: Top 10 Finish
-145 John Rahm
Rahm, who is just 25 years old, is the 3rd ranked golfer in the world and won this tourney in 2017. Rahm is always a threat and has two Top 10’s in his last two tournaments (He finished 2nd at the Hero World Challenge and 10th at the Tournament of Champions).
The Best Plays on the Golf Odds this Weekend: Winner of Tournament
Justin Rose +1600
Rose is ranked 8th in the world and has been a stud the last three years at Torrey Pines: he won it last year (after shooting an opening-round 63), tied for 8th two years ago and tied for 4th three years ago. The Fed Ex Cup champion from 2018 has played in just one tournament (Hero World Challenge—finished 5th) since December but is ready for a big week in San Diego.
