Why Jameis is Good for Both Teams
The Game:
Houston Texans at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Play:
Texans at Buccaneers Adjusted Over: 54.5 (+170)
Who would have guessed it, but it’s week 16 of the NFL season and head coach Bruce Arian’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the most explosive offensive team in the league. Tampa Bay is 1st in passing yards per game (328) and second in total offense. Another bit of information no one would have guessed is how much fun it is watching quarterback Jameis Winston down the stretch for the Buccs.
Tampa Bay has won four in a row for the first time in four years and Winston has been on fire; especially the last two weeks. Two weeks ago, against Indianapolis he had 456 yards passing and five total touchdowns and last week in Detroit he had 450 more yards and four TDs. The Bucs do have some injuries at wide receiver but ex-Raven Breshad Perriman came out of nowhere on the receiving end with three touchdown catches last week. In what might be the most staggering stat of the bunch, 11 of the last 12 Bucs games have gone over 50 points.

But why I really love this game is because the Houston Texans are not that bad offensively themselves with the seventh most productive offense in the NFL. Running back Carlos Hyde had a big game in their upset win against AFC South rival Titans last week. In two of the Texans previous matchups against teams from the NFC South, points were scored in bunches with each of those games eclipsing the 54.5 mark. At the beginning of the season—when Houston went to New Orleans, 58 points were scored—and the scoreboard lit up again when the Texans battled the Falcons with a whopping 85 points scored by game’s end. I see a game where Winston and DeShaun Watson will go up and down the field for their teams in sunny Tampa as the total will cruise past 54.5 and land somewhere in the 60’s.
The Prediction:
37 Houston Texans
29 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
