Harry’s NFL Playoff Best Bet of the Week
Over 43.5 – Tennessee Titans/New England Patriots
Seeing the Patriots in the playoffs is old hat for all of us football fans out there, but what we are not used to is seeing them have to play on Wild Card Weekend. We are seeing them play on Saturday night because they collapsed in Week 17 at home to Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins. That last second score forced the Pats to have to play the upstart Tennessee Titans this week.
Last season, prior to the Patriots first playoff game, many critics said they were done. The claim was the team simply wasn’t that good, which is sort of making me feel a sensation of Déjà vu this year because we are hearing the same grumblings from critics. And what happened in that first playoff game last year? The Patriots hung 41 points on the Chargers… so don’t count the Patriots and Tom Brady out just yet. For failing to clinch a bye the Patriots are still a team averaging 28 points a game in their last three contests. Look for Brady to use underrated running back James White plenty against the Titans. White wound up with 72 receptions this season and five of those went for touchdowns.
The man looking to lead the upset charge is quarterback for the Titans, Ryan Tannehill. He is making his first playoff appearance and is the guy that saved the Titans season with 26 total touchdowns to just six interceptions. Rookie wideout AJ Brown can instantly put six points on the board and running back Derrick Henry is healthy as he torched the league for 1,800 total yards and 18 touchdowns. The Titans games have been high scoring this year, and they really light it up in the second half; nine straight Titans games have gone over 43 points and in seven of their last nine games, the winner of the game has scored at least 30 points. Plus, in seven of the last eight times these two teams have met the game total has gone over. This game has the makings of a shootout on Saturday night between the “red hot” Ryan Tannehill and the veteran Tom Brady.
The Prediction:
27 New England Patriots
24 Tennessee Titans
