NFL Week 8 Best Bet: Carolina Panthers at San Francisco 49ers Over 41.5
The Game:
Carolina Panthers at San Francisco 49ers
The Play:
OVER 41.5
This game involves two of the hottest teams in the NFL. The Carolina Panthers have won four games in a row with two of them coming on the road and the San Francisco 49ers who are still undefeated this season. In three of those four wins for the Panthers they have scored at least 34 points and spurring the foundation is second year quarterback Kyle Allen.
Allen has yet to throw an interception in his career and has seven touchdown passes to his credit. This team has done a complete 180 turnaround with him at the helm. This might still be Cam Newton’s team in general (rumors he might be ready to come back and play), but for now they are the team of the undrafted Kyle Allen’s. MVP candidate running back Christian McCaffrey more than likely will go over 1000 total yards for the season and with his next touchdown will put him in double digits in that category.
The 49ers are no slouches; they have the second-best running attack in the league and are eighth in total offense. Running back Matt Breida is averaging 5.6 yards a carry and has 500 total yards on the season. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s main receiver is tight end George Kittle (34 receptions) but got some help this week when GM John Lynch traded with Denver for WR Emmanuel Sanders. Jimmy G hopes to have Sanders in the lineup come Sunday afternoon to add to their already potent offense.
A heaping helping of bones to nibble on:
- In San Francisco’s only other matchup versus a team from the NFC South this season, the game flew over when they trounced Tampa Bay 31-17
- In three of the last four road games for Carolina, the game has gone over with an average of 48 points in those contests
- The over has hit five straight games for the Panthers when coming off of a bye
- In 13 of the last 18 times these two have faced off, the game has gone over and they have averaged 49 points in those matchups
The Prediction:
PANTHERS 31
49ERS 27
