The Top Teaser and College Football Best Bets This Week of Bowl Season
The Play:
Two-Team 7-Point Teaser
The Games:
LSU (-6.5) vs. Oklahoma in Peach Bowl
Clemson (+4.5) vs. Ohio State in Fiesta Bowl
Peach Bowl Odds: LSU vs. Oklahoma
LSU simply has too much offense and their defense is much better than the Sooners. Oklahoma has been in the semifinal games for three straight years and in each of those years, they have lost. In those losses, they gave up 37 points to Clemson in 2016, 54 to Georgia two years ago, and 45 to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide last year.
LSU is led by All-American safety Grant Delpit on defense and by Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow on offense. Burrow found wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase 32 times for touchdowns this season. Chase has nine touchdowns and 850 yards in the last five games for the Tigers. Oklahoma, on the other hand, has had some suspensions leading into this game and have struggled mightily during the second half o the season and needed help to make the playoffs. LSU is 2nd in the nation in yards per game and will continue to be the same pulverizing force they have been against the Big 12 champs in Atlanta.
The Prediction:
44 LSU Tigers
27 Oklahoma Sooners
Fiesta Bowl Odds: Clemson (+4.5) vs. Ohio State
Ever since Clemson received their 21-20 scare against North Carolina, they have destroyed everyone in their path. After that game on September 28th, Clemson has won by an average of 42 points per game and that includes putting up 62 against Virginia in the ACC Championship game in Charlotte; the defending champs will be ready for what the Buckeyes throw at them.
Ohio State has had a brilliant season, but in this rematch from the 2016 Fiesta Bowl, Clemson head coach Dabo Sweeney will have too much firepower. WR Tee Higgins (averaging 21 yards a catch) will shine the brightest on Saturday for the Clemson offense. On the defensive end, look for linebacker Isiah Simmons to give Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts a long and tedious day in Glendale. Take the Tigers to once again make it to the national championship game.
The Prediction:
36 Clemson Tigers
24 Oklahoma Sooners
