Harry’s Wyndham Championship Best Bets
What: Wyndham Championship
Where: Sedgefield Country Club
Greensboro, North Carolina
When: August 13-16
Before we dive deep into this week’s golf tournament let us just reflect on what we saw this past weekend at the PGA Championship at Harding Park in San Francisco. Personally, I took Englishman Paul Casey at 15-1 to win it on Sunday morning and he played well committing only one bogey, but it was Collin Morikawa’s time.
Morikawa’s putting was exceptional but his drive on the par 4 16th hole will be what we remember for many years to come as it almost went in for a hole in one. This week in Greensboro, North Carolina we have a solid field of golfers who will get right back at it in trying to bolster their standings in the Fed Ex standings.
JT Poston is in the field and will do his best to defend his championship. Other golfers who are in the field that will challenge Poston are Brooks Koepka (shot a disappointing 74 on Sunday), Patrick Reed, Webb Simpson, and Englishmen Tommy Fleetwood, Paul Casey, and Justin Rose. Here are some of my best thoughts and plays for this week’s tournament.
Harry’s Wyndham Championship Prop Bets and Golfer to Stay Away From
Golfer to Stay Away From: Brooks Koepka
Before his round on Sunday, Koepka again put his foot in his mouth by stating that Dustin Johnson has just one major and that he had four. I’m not sure it was necessary to mention that and then things got worse for Koepka as he fell out of contention early on Sunday. So clearly that was not a smart move by Brooks. After that 74 on Sunday he may not be focused the way he should be and could be done by Friday.
Wire to Wire Wyndham Championship Winner Prop Bet: +1400
Normally I would say no to this wild type of bet but read on and I will give you my winner and why this 14/1 longshot might just have a legitimate chance.
PGA Matchups and Wyndham Championship Matchup Prop Bets
-135 Webb Simpson over Patrick Reed
Reed has played fairly well here in the past but not as well as Simpson. Simpson has three straight top 3 finishes in Greensboro and will want to rebound from his disappointing play a week ago in San Francisco.
-135 Brandt Snedeker over Corey Conners
Conners is an up and coming golfer and has showed signs of brilliance, but he will need even more than that with “Sneds” this weekend. Snedeker hasn’t been atop a leaderboard in weeks but has a terrific history on this course. Snedeker won this tournament in 2018 while shooting 21 under.
Top Asian Golfer and Top English Golfer
+225 Si Woo Kim and +250 Paul Casey
Kim has played well here in the past shooting 17 under last year and winning here in 2016.
Casey finally played well last week in California finishing 2nd and has numerous top 20 finishes on this course in seasons past.
6 Pack to make the Cup Parlay
-500 Webb Simpson
-400 Paul Casey
-400 Patrick Reed
-275 Billy Horschel
-190 Si Woo Kim
-190 Brandt Snedeker
All six golfers have played fantastic here in the past
Wyndham Championship Top 10 and Wyndham Championship Winner Odds
Possible Top 10 and Win Odds
Billy Horschel 4/1 and 30/1
Horschel finished 6th here last year, 11th the year before and 5th in 2016.
Brandt Snedeker 6/1 and 55/1
Snedeker has a wonderful history here and this course suits his game perfectly.
Webb Simpson 2/1 and 11/1
In the last three seasons in this tournament Simpson is a combined 57 under par and has two seconds, plus a third place finish. In 2015 he recorded a 6th place finish.
