Chelsea’s EPL Odds After a Last Minute Header
Chelsea fell back into the loss column after their late defeat to Newcastle United.
Isaac Hayden’s 94th-minute header was able to find its way past Kepa Arrizabalaga and claim all three points for the home side.
It was Newcastle’s first win in five and was at Chelsea’s expense whose three-match unbeaten run is now.
Academy product Reece James limped off with an apparent ankle injury and his potential absence will prove pivotal to Chelsea’s next fixtures as the 19-year old has already proven his worth to this current Chelsea side who host rivals Arsenal in their next match.
Chelsea now possesses the third-best odds to finish in the top four which open at -250.
Mo Salah Less United Odds
Manchester United suffered yet another defeat as they fell 2-0 to rivals Liverpool at Anfield.
A first-half header from Virgil Van Dijk and a 90th-minute strike from Mohamed Salah undone United who were outclassed for most of the game.
Before the game, reports on United’s top scorer Marcus Rashford claimed he would be out for 2-3 months with a stress fracture in his back; a claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer later confirmed.
United will have to do without Rashford for potentially the entire campaign and with no striker on the horizon in the January transfer window, the goalscoring burden lies on the backs of Anthony Martial and 18-year-old Mason Greenwood.
Sportsbooks’ odds on Manchester United to finish in the top four are open at +250.
Leicester City dropped to third in the table after a 2-1 home late loss to Southampton. After consecutive wins against Newcastle and West Ham United, Leicester was punished by Southampton striker Danny Ings who scored his 14th league goal of the season to secure three points for the away side.
Leicester remains six points ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea and looks set for a return to the UEFA Champions League, a competition they haven’t competed in since the 2016/17 season.
Sportsbooks’ odds on Leicester City to finish in the top four open at -700.
