New York Yankees Odds
If the regular season began as scheduled March 26 in Baltimore, New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton would still be recovering from a calf injury. Four months later, he looks healthy and locked in. Stanton has homered in consecutive games and produced four RBI after connecting off Max Scherzer on Thursday and Erick Fedde on Saturday. He next will face Patrick Corbin, against whom he is 6-for-16 (.375) with two homers.
“He looks great,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after Saturday’s 9-2 loss. If Stanton has another big day Sunday, the Yankees hope it comes as various relievers pitch well. As of Saturday night, the Yankees did not name a starter, but the game will likely begin with Chad Green, who served as an opener 15 times last season.
Washington Nationals Odds
Carter Kieboom is expected to see most of the significant time at third base for the Washington Nationals to fill the void at for Anthony Rendon. Kieboom is dealing with a slight groin issue impacting lateral movement, but unlike past seasons, he has been able to stay in the lineup as a designated hitter.
Steady veteran Asdrubal Cabrera filled in nicely at third Saturday by getting three hits, including a home run. Whoever is at third base Sunday will be playing behind LHP Patrick Corbin, who is starting the second year of a $140 million deal against the team he grew up rooting for in upstate New York. Corbin was pursued by the Yankees following the 2018 season but chose the Nationals instead.
