Monday, July 27, Boston, Fenway Park; 7:35 p.m. ET
New York Mets Odds
The Mets dropped two of three games in the season-opening series against the Atlanta Braves and are headed to Massachusetts by bus. Former St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Michael Wacha takes the ball for the Mets.
He was on the outside looking in as a likely reliever after a rough spring, but injuries to Marcus Stroman and Noah Syndergaard propped the door back open for Wacha. He makes Monday’s start at Fenway Park in his first appearance there since losing Game 6 of the 2013 World Series in Boston as a member of the Cardinals.
Boston Red Sox odds
Boston won the opener and surprisingly dropped two of three to being the season with the visiting Orioles leaving Fenway Park Sunday and lasting questions about the Red Sox offense in their wake. They are going to a true opener in the first game of the series with the Mets in left-hander John Osich.
Zack Godley will be the first man in for Boston. Osich is unlikely to go more than two innings. Manager Ron Roenicke said he likes Osich against the lefty-dominant Mets. With Chris Sale and Eduardo Rodriguez out, the Red Sox are looking like a pitching-starved outfit to start the season.
