Colorado Rockies Preview
The Colorado Rockies will end their season-opening road trip Wednesday afternoon in advance of their home opener Friday against the San Diego Padres. The Rockies are 3-1 on the young season after an 8-3 victory at Oakland on Tuesday. Sam Hilliard hit a home run, and Hilliard and David Dahl each drove in two runs.
Right-hander German Marquez (0-1, 1.59 ERA) will take the mound against the A’s one game after taking a no-hitter into the sixth before the Texas Rangers hit two doubles off him that inning to escape with a 1-0 victory. Third baseman Nolan Arenado is 3-for-13 with no extra-base hits to open the season, but did drive in his first run Tuesday.
Oakland Athletics Preview
The Oakland Athletics will take the field Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies in yet another day game. The A’s will be playing their sixth game of the season, all at home, and the fourth one of those in the sunshine. Oakland is 3-2 on the season after an 8-3 win against the Rockies on Tuesday.
The A’s are 2-1 in day games, all against the Los Angeles Angels. Frankie Montas (0-0, 2.25 ERA) will return to the mound after needing 81 pitches to go four innings in Friday’s season opener against the Angels. He gave up one run on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Designated hitter Khris Davis is 0-for-15 to start the season, and he left nine runners on base Tuesday.
