St. Louis Cardinals Odds
The Cardinals hope to return to action Saturday after their scheduled Friday game against the Milwaukee Brewers was postponed when two St. Louis players tested positive for COVID-19. Coupled with a Thursday off day, that means St. Louis’ cold offense has had two days to regroup.
The Cardinals managed just four runs total over the past three games, all losses. Among the strugglers are outfielders Harrison Bader and Tyler O’Neill, who are a combined 4-for-26 (.154).
Right-hander Jack Flaherty (1-0, 2.57 ERA) is scheduled to start for St. Louis, hoping to build on his win in the opener. He held the Pittsburgh Pirates to two runs in six innings. Flaherty is 2-4 with a 4.56 ERA in 10 career starts against the Brewers.
Milwaukee Brewers Odds
The Milwaukee Brewers will try again to play their home opener on Saturday after the Friday game was postponed when the St. Louis Cardinals had two players test positive for COVID-19.
The Brewers hope the return home will revive Christian Yelich. The 2018 National League MVP is a frightful 1-for-27 (.037) with 12 strikeouts. The good news for Yelich is that he owned the Cardinals the past two years, hitting .303 (33-for-109) with 14 homers and 34 RBIs in 32 games.
Another concern is Justin Smoak, who is 4-for-23 with 11 strikeouts and committed a key throwing error Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Left-hander Brett Anderson is set to come off the injured list to start Saturday. He had been sidelined due to a finger blister.
