San Francisco Giants Odds
With two different strategies in two games, the San Francisco Giants will need a better plan Saturday on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Giants used starter Johnny Cueto on Thursday, then used an opener in Tyler Anderson on Friday, but still gave up 17 runs in two games to the potent Dodgers offense.
The Giants could go back to a starter in Jeff Samardzija (11-12 last season with a 3.52 ERA), but as new manager Gabe Kapler has said, “All our pitchers will fall into buckets: bulk pitcher, sprint pitcher, guys who can pitch back-to-back. But I won’t be too forthright about how we plan to run our games.”
Los Angeles Dodgers odds
A favorite to reach the World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers have only gained more believers after an impressive two-game start to the season. They play host to the rival San Francisco Giants on Saturday afternoon having averaged more than eight runs in two games. After Enrique Hernandez had four hits and five RBIs on Thursday, Max Muncy had two home runs, while Muncy and Corey Seager each had two hits. Mookie Betts drove in his first Dodgers run Friday.
Lefty Alex Wood will make his first start for the Dodgers since 2018. He was traded to the Cincinnati Reds but pitched just seven games last year because of back issues. Darin Ruf is one of few Giants with a strong record against Wood. He has seven hits in 15 career at-bats in the matchup.
