Chicago White Sox Odds
White Sox left-hander Dallas Keuchel will look to build on a strong team debut as Chicago continues an eight-game road trip on Friday with the series opener against the Kansas City Royals. On Saturday, Keuchel (1-0, 3.38 ERA) scattered two runs in 5 1/3 innings to defeat the Minnesota Twins for the White Sox’s first victory of the season.
As Chicago aims for its first winning streak of 2020, Keuchel’s previous successes at Kauffman Stadium could bode well. He’s 2-1 with a 3.79 ERA in three career starts there. Rookie center fielder Luis Robert has hit safely in all six games this season and is batting .348 overall. Chicago stranded 20 runners in its previous series and wound up losing two of three at Cleveland.
Kansas City Royals Odds
The Kansas City Royals promoted prospect Kris Bubic to start their home opener against the Chicago White Sox on Friday. A 22-year-old left-hander, Bubic has not pitched above the high Class-A level, but the Royals are hoping his strikeout potential will translate quickly in his major league debut.
Splitting time between low Class-A Lexington and high Class-A Wilmington in 2019, Bubic led the minor leagues with 185 strikeouts over 149 1/3 innings covering 26 starts while pitching to a 2.23 ERA. Royals infielder/outfielder Whit Merrifield is batting .500 (6-for-12) with one RBI in his career against Chicago starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel. Kansas City also hosted Chicago in its 2019 home opener, earning a 5-3 victory.
