San Francisco Giants Preview
After hitting his first career home run Sunday against the Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants rookie Chadwick Tromp hit another one Monday in his fourth game. Tromp had two RBIs at Colorado, including a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning as a rally against the Rockies fell just short and the Giants lost 7-6.
Mike Yastrzemski and Alex Dickerson added home runs Monday. San Francisco has lost consecutive games for the first time since the opening two contests of the season. The Giants no longer name their starter in advance, but Tuesday is Kevin Gausman’s spot in the rotation.
Gausman (0-0, 5.40 ERA) went 4 1/3 innings Thursday against the Padres, giving up three runs on six hits with eight strikeouts.
Colorado Rockies Odds
Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado finally broke through with his first extra-base hit of 2020, a two-run home run in the sixth inning of Colorado’s 7-6 win over the visiting San Francisco Giants on Monday.
Before the 430-foot blast, the five-time All-Star had seven hits, all singles. With closer Wade Davis (shoulder) sidelined, Jairo Diaz earned his second save Monday, but gave up two runs in the ninth inning before escaping the jam.
Right-hander German Marquez (1-1, 1.54 ERA) will look to continue his hot start when he takes the mound Tuesday on an extra day of rest. Marquez has given up just one run in each of his first two starts, but he has a poor career record vs. the Giants: 2-4, 6.60 ERA in eight starts.
