Arizona Diamondbacks Odds
As the Arizona Diamondbacks figured out Monday in Denver, it’s not about holding down the hot Colorado offense, it’s about beating the Rockies in a shootout.
The Diamondbacks scored their second most runs of the season in a 12-8 victory over the Rockies in the series opener. New D-backs outfielder Kole Calhoun got off to a slow start to the season, but he delivered three RBIs on Monday for the second time in six games. Calhoun had a double and a home run on a night when the D-backs had 18 hits, four of them from Ketel Marte.
Right-hander Zac Gallen (0-0 2.81 ERA) will start Tuesday coming off consecutive six-inning, two-run outings. He has no decisions and 2.70 ERA in two career starts against Colorado.
Colorado Rockies Odds
The Colorado Rockies have lost consecutive games for the first time this season, but they are still scoring runs in bunches as they prepare for the second game of a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
The Rockies dropped the series opener 12-8 on Monday. Charlie Blackmon extended his hitting streak to 14 games after a four-hit game Monday. Blackmon is now batting a major-league-best .484 with 11 multi-hit games, including five straight multi-hit outings.
Left-hander Kyle Freeland (2-0, 2.41 ERA) is scheduled to start Tuesday, and he has made three quality starts in his three appearances this year. However, he is 3-4 with a 5.57 ERA in 12 career starts vs. Arizona.
