Chicago Cubs Odds
Ace right-hander Kyle Hendricks and the visiting Chicago Cubs will look to remain on their season-opening hot streak Wednesday as they go for an abbreviated two-game sweep of the Cleveland Indians.
Hendricks (2-1, 3.54 ERA) is set to get the call for the Cubs in his first appearance against Cleveland since Game 7 of the 2016 World Series. Hendricks is coming off an Aug. 4 victory against the Kansas City Royals, when he scattered two runs on seven hits in seven innings with zero walks and three strikeouts.
Right fielder Jason Heyward went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs in Chicago’s 7-1 win Tuesday after beginning August in a 3-for-18 slump.
Cleveland Indians Odds
After losing the series opener to the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, the Cleveland Indians will go for a split of the two-game series and try to secure their sixth victory in eight games when the teams meet again Wednesday.
Right-hander Carlos Carrasco (2-1, 2.50 ERA) will get the start in his first career appearance against the Cubs. Carrasco pitched six scoreless innings against Cincinnati on Thursday, scattering one hit and four walks while striking out eight.
Designated hitter Franmil Reyes, who was 2-for-3 Wednesday and drove in the Indians’ lone run in a 7-1 loss, is 9-for-18 with a home run and six RBIs in the past five games.
