Chicago Cubs Odds
Rested after their scheduled weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns, the Chicago Cubs are set to return to action against the host Cleveland Indians on Tuesday in their first action since Thursday.
The Cubs played a five-inning simulated game at Wrigley Field on Sunday. Left-hander Jon Lester (1-0, 0.82 ERA) is slated to get the call for the Cubs in his first start since Aug. 2, when he limited the Pittsburgh Pirates to one run on four hits in six innings with one walk and four strikeouts.
Lester is 4-1 with a 3.74 ERA in nine career starts at Progressive Field with 61 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings. In his past seven games, Ian Happ is batting .389 (7-for-18) with a homer.
Cleveland Indians Odds
After taking two of three from the Chicago White Sox on the road over the weekend, the Cleveland Indians will aim to top Chicago’s other team Tuesday when they host the Cubs.
Right-hander Mike Clevinger was set to start for the Indians in the series opener Tuesday, but he was placed in quarantine due to a coronavirus protocol violation. As a result, right-hander Adam Plutko (0-1, 2.57 ERA) will get the ball. Plutko’s career history vs. the Cubs consists of six shutout innings in a 2018 win.
Franmil Reyes has eight hits — including two home runs — and seven RBIs in his past six games. The Indians manager Terry Francona will be back Tuesday after missing eight games due to a gastrointestinal issue.
