Milwaukee Brewers Odds
After absorbing a blowout loss Wednesday in the series finale against the Minnesota Twins, the Milwaukee Brewers will aim to regroup when they begin a 10-game road trip on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs.
Left-hander Brett Anderson, who was scratched from his scheduled July 25 start against the Cubs with a blister on the index finger of his pitching hand, is set to get the call for Milwaukee. Anderson (0-1, 5.40 ERA) has logged 6 2/3 innings in two starts since returning from the injured list. He is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in three career starts against the Cubs.
Milwaukee yielded a season-high run total Wednesday in a 12-2 loss. The Brewers have scored just two runs in the first inning in 16 games this season.
Chicago Cubs Odds
The Chicago Cubs will go for their 13th victory in 16 games to begin the season when they open a 10-game homestand on Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Right-hander Yu Darvish (2-1, 2.12 ERA) is set to get the start for Chicago.
In his most recent outing, on Aug. 5 in Kansas City, Darvish limited the Royals to one run in seven innings while striking out four. He has won his past two starts since the Brewers reached him for three runs on six hits in four innings on July 25. He is 1-2 with a 2.32 ERA in six career starts vs. Milwaukee.
Kyle Schwarber, scratched from the starting lineup Wednesday due to a bruised right knee, struck out as a pinch hitter in the Cubs’ 7-2 win. \
