League will hold draft remotely in mid-June
On Friday, ESPN’s Jeff Passan obtained a memo from Major League Baseball that said this year’s draft will be held remotely. Currently, teams are not allowed to have draft rooms and will be making all selections via videoconference calls. However, the memo does say that these things can change as the draft gets closer.
The MLB draft will be conducted in the same fashion as the 2020 NFL draft. According to the memo, each team’s head of baseball operations will be sent a video kit to use during the annual selection process.
The 2020 MLB Draft will take place over two days. Day one of the 2020 draft begins at 7:00 PM EST on June 10th. Day one will feature the first 37 picks in the draft. Rounds two through five will take place the following day on June 11th.
