Houston Astros Odds
Houston Astros right-hander Brandon Bielak (2-0, 1.69 ERA) will look for his third major league win in as many appearances Thursday when he starts the rubber game of a series at Arizona. Bielak scored relief wins over the Seattle Mariners and the Los Angeles Angels last week.
The Notre Dame product has allowed just two runs (one earned) in 5 1/3 innings, fanning six and walking three. Carlos Correa is locked in at the plate so far, off to a 16-for-40 (.400) start that also includes six walks and a 1.139 OPS.
On the other hand, Jose Altuve is immersed in a 3-for-34 skid that has dropped his average to a sickly .146.
Arizona Diamondbacks Odds
Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen has pitched well in his two starts this year, both Arizona wins, but hasn’t gotten a decision. Gallen, who faces the Houston Astros on Thursday, has fanned 15 in 10 innings against San Diego and the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitching to a 2.70 ERA.
He will be opposing Houston for the first time in his two major league seasons. David Peralta belted a three-run triple and a solo homer Wednesday night in the Diamondbacks’ 14-7 victory over Houston, upping his average to .244 with his second consecutive multi-hit game.
Nick Ahmed is just 4-for-38 (.105), but did clout a two-run homer Wednesday as Arizona leveled the three-game series at one win apiece.
